One of the most important areas of your house to organize is where you’re going to be putting up your family’s tree, no matter if it’s real or fake! Move around any home décor in the space you chose, properly dust, sweep and/or mop where the tree will be planted, metaphorically speaking. Place a festive rug or sheet underneath in case of falling ornaments or fir just as a precaution. Once the tree is in place, get to work with the kids hanging candy canes, ornaments, lights and the ending star or angel sitting on the top!
While you dig out the rest of the decorations, scrub down locations you’re planning on putting the tinsel, garlands and poinsettia. Make sure those areas are dirt-free because when January rolls around and you go to take the décor down, it will be a lot less of a pain wiping those areas off.
If you have a chimney in your home, whether it ever gets used or not, quickly wipe around the areas with some cleaner and get up in there to get any grime that has been out of sight for a while. Don’t let that blind spot keep building up!
Just because the temperature starts to drop does not mean your home’s cleanliness should stand still. With all the rushing around for gifts, food and new decorations don’t forget to take some time preparing for Christmas and making sure your house is ready for visitors, preferably leaving the reindeer outside!
